Wet and loving it!

I'm not sure what it is at the moment, but all the activities that I've done over the last couple of days have involved getting very very wet! First there was the Sea kayaking, which of course involved my first voluntary dip into the southern ocean, followed by the white water rafting. The white water rafting included "river surfing" which meant that I had to move from my spot at the back (I'm the one with the yellow helmet at the back of the raft) to sit in the very front, and hold on tight. The guide then put the from of the raft into the rapids, which meant that I was getting very very wet as water splashed down into the boat, and I found myself up to my neck in it! Today I followed the white water rafting up with black water rafting. Black water rafting was basically tubing through a cave system in the dark. OK, we weren't entirely in the dark, there were glow worms to light the way out of the cave. We also had head lamps. The last section though we were asked to switch off our lights, and find our way out of the tunnel in the dark by following the glow worms on the roof of the tunnel. It meant a lot of bumping into walls, and people as we floated (or paddled) down stream! Tomorrow I plan to change the theme slightly. Tomorrow I'm heading out of town to do the Tongariro crossing That's assuming that I can get up at 5.40 am! (what was I thinking about? am I insane! that time of day should not exist!) on the plus side, I should get some fabulous views of Mt. Doom. For your delectation, here are a couple more pictures of me rafting. (again I have forgotten the cable for the camera! grrr!)

This is about to go down one of the smaller waterfalls. (I'll put up one of the big waterfall when I get back to Auckland in a couple of days)

This is having survived the 7m waterfall - and not flipping the raft whilst we were at it! that's why we all look so happy and relieved!
