November 5th and a big bang

New Zealanders remember the 5th of November, and Cat and I (being English) decided that we would get into the spirit of things. Unfortunately we didn't do that by watching a fireworks display, but we did manage to have a big bang.

We are OK. The car has gone to a crusher - it was a write-off so we got it towed away, and an absolutely lovely local lady came to our rescue, taking us home so that we could call people like the AA, and get things sorted out. we then hopped on the next bus to Auckland, and we're now looking for work and rooms to rent here in Auckland.

In other news, I've been Prawn fishing! I even managed to catch a couple of prawns, - though I refused to be the one to take then off the hook! Thanks to Cat and DJ for removing the hooks from my prawns. The 3 of us managed to catch 21 prawns because we were to stubborn to leave even though it was chucking down with rain.

I've also seen the Huka falls, which looks pretty amazing.

I've been on a wine tour in the Hawkes bay region, and been to Napier, (very art deco, and very hot) I can recommend the Mission Estate wines, as well as Matariki, Trinity Hills and Craggy Range. Well I'm not sure that I could remember that much by the time that I got to the last vineyard, but it was a really nice afternoon anyway!

I also spent a couple of days in Gisborne, and Tauranga. In Tauranga we ran into Mario, one of the guys that we'd known in Whangarei, and Mario wanted to have his head shaved... how could we say no?
I can't apparently add any more pictures at the moment, so I'll add some more later.
Love ya,
Sueby
